Project 365 Day 186

I'm usually so much better at mending my garden; this year I haven't given it the attention it deserves. Partially because it's rained so much that I figured the plants weren't thirsty, and partly because I've been lazy.
Today's Project 3.6.5. picture is my poor dried hydrangeas getting a much needed water.

Project 365 Day 184

I received these beautiful orchids from my friend Christian for my birthday. I wanted to make sure I got a Project 3.6.5. picture of them before they wilted. Gorgeous!

Project 365 Day 99

The reasons I didn't want to post another plant/flower picture today:
  1. I've already posted two this week.
  2. I don't want to be THAT lady. Crazy lady that only posts pics of her flowers.
  3. Plants and flowers can be rather boring.
The reasons I did post another plant/flower picture today:
  1. It's the only picture I took today.
  2. Taking pictures of plant and flowers is easier than kids; they don't move and I can practice working on Depth of Field.
  3. It's a follow-up picture to the one I took on February 6; the flowers have died, but there is a new shoot that I just noticed today.
  4. Plants and flowers can be rather exciting.
Enjoy today's Project 3.6.5. Picture.

Project 365 Day 98

Just discovered this plant/flower on my deck this evening. I have no idea what it is, but I liked that it looked so different. Not necessarily pretty, but unique.
It's today's Project 3.6.5. Picture.

Project 365 Day 94

In case you didn't know, it rains in Vancouver. A lot.
It can be depressing, but it does help the city become very green.
I took this Project 3.6.5. Picture this evening on my deck. I was so excited to see my tulips finally starting to bloom. April Showers, May Flowers, yada, yada, yada...

Project 365 Day 37

I received the most beautiful Orchid from my friend Dahn for my birthday in June. The plant had 6 different stems and at least 30 flowers.
Over the past month, all of the flowers but one have died.
My Project 3.6.5. picture today is that one flower.

Tomato Tomoto

I love where I live, not so much for the location, (which is fantastic), but rather for what my place has… Its own private roof-top deck!

I’ve lived here for four years now, and from the second I first saw the deck, I fell in love with it.

I really only get to use it 6 months of the year since it’s kind of gross when it’s raining or slushing out. Every year, I add new plants and try to keep on top of the weeds and flowers. This year I decide to try something a little different. I try to do my part for our earth: I recycle, I turn off lights, I walk to work… but I have never grown my own food.

I didn’t go crazy and plant a whole garden and I don’t expect my three little tomato plants to make me self-sufficient, but I am very excited about being able to eat something I grew by myself. (I also planted a couple of strawberry plants and some basil for good measure)

I thought I might be able to save a little bit of money by doing this… the joke’s on me: the plants, soil, fertilizer, and planters came to over $85! I have never eaten an $85 tomato in my life… they’d better taste amazing!

I will keep you posted on their progress, but here are a few pictures of their humble beginnings:

Oh... and here's a few of some of my flowers... just because they're pretty!
