Project 365 Day 59

I said good-bye to someone today. It was sad. So very very sad.
After, there was a gathering at Seasons in the Park in Queen Elizabeth Park. I had forgotten how amazing the view was from there. I need to go back in the summer.
Today's Project 3.6.5. Picture goes out to Victoria.

Project 365 Day 58

In case you didn't know, the Oscars were held tonight.
James Franco and Anne Hathaway were the hosts, and because my friend Dahn is the biggest Hathaway fan ever, I thought I would honour her with this Project 3.6.5. Picture. Enjoy.

I walk by this "head" every day to work. I liked the way it looked today surrounded by snow. It's today's Project 3.6.5. Picture.

One of my favourite buildings in the city is the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. I love its grandeur and its oxidized copper roof. Gorgeous.

Project 365 Day 54

As I've mentioned several times before, I work on Robson Street and therefore many of my Project 3.6.5. Pictures will be from the street and the merchants on the street.
Today's is from a window display at Aldo Shoes. I just loved the bright colours; they made me think of warmth and sunshine.
Can't wait until summer.

Project 365 Day 53

Sometimes I get teased because I accumulate a lot of useless knowledge. Tonight wasn't one of these times.
To be honest, I don't think it was my useless knowledge that led our team, The Scarecrows, to victory; my teammates were all very impressive.
Regardless, we were the Grand Champions tonight at the New Oxford Trivia Night!
Questions ranged from recognizing famous figures in pictures to name that tune, to pop culture to current events. You are not allowed to use your phone to search the internet to find out who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1990, (Gorbachev), or what the deepest Lake in Scotland is, (Loch Morar), and although we got those two questions wrong, we still beat out at least 20 other teams. Also noteworthy is that the team that came in second place had about 14 members while we only had 5!
Yeah Team! We are SMRT!

Project 365 Day 52

Normally we have 2 sitting in our hallway, but right now my roommate is training for the Ride to Conquer Cancer, so we have added a third bike to our collection. It's a little crowded, but since it's for a good cause, I'm ok with it. This is today's Project 3.6.5. picture.

Project 365 Day 51

Tonight was bath-time for Beckett and Nolan. After the bath, there was probably more water on the floor than in the tub. As usual, it was hard to get the boys to sit still for today's Project 3.6.5. Picture.

Not everyone loves the architectural design of the main branch of the Vancouver Public Library, but I certainly do. I love the way the Colosseum-like structure looks against our amazing Vancouver sky. This is today's Project 3.6.5. picture.

Project 365 Day 49

In January 2010 I included a picture of one of the Olympic Welcome signs in my blog. As far as I know, they were all taken down after the games... all but this on on Robson near Burrard. I think it's in Dutch and it is today's Project 3.6.5. Picture.

I'm glad I only have to go to the dentist twice a year... that's about all of the teeth scraping I can handle.
Today's Project 3.6.5. picture is of my view from the dentist's chair.
PS: No cavities!

This Project 3.6.5. picture was taken from my office around 5:30 today. I love the way the sunlight hits the building. It almost looks warm.

Project 365 Day 44

I love going over to my sister's place on Sunday evenings: it means I get a delicious meal and I get to spend time with my nephews.
Tonight, we were "bowling"; the stuffed animal "pins" in the picture are part of a set bought for the boys by their cousin in Phoenix. And that's Beckett in the background with his legs in the air.
This is today's Project 3.6.5. picture.

Project 365 Day 43

Today marks the first anniversary of the opening of the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Today's Project 3.6.5. picture is of some of my Olympic memorabilia.
Coins, pins, ticket stubs, lanyards, buttons, programs, tattoos, mittens, toque, Miga, Quatchi... it's all there.
I miss the Olympics.

Project 365 Day 42

Last year, I built my own version of the Olympic Rings. I haven't had the heart to take them down yet, so I figured I should plug them in again to commemorate the anniversary of the games.
My Project 3.6.5. Picture today is of the rings.

There was no fire, but there were a few fire trucks parked on the Robson Street today. They really are a fabulous colour, but I was busy looking for some cute firemen.

Project 365 Day 38

Today's Project 3.6.5. Picture is of the Manhattan Building on the north-east corner of Robson and Thurlow. I walk by it several times a day and always admire it. The bottom consists of merchants and above that is a member-operated non-profit housing co-operative consisting of 44 suites.
Built in 1908, the Manhattan is the oldest apartment building in the West End of Vancouver and it boasts an extensive rooftop Garden where food and ornamental plants are grown.

Project 365 Day 37

I received the most beautiful Orchid from my friend Dahn for my birthday in June. The plant had 6 different stems and at least 30 flowers.
Over the past month, all of the flowers but one have died.
My Project 3.6.5. picture today is that one flower.

Project 365 Day 36

I took my camera over to visit my nephews today and we did an impromptu photo shoot. Like I've said before, it's nearly impossible to get them to stay still long enough to get a picture, but I did manage to get a few.
Here is today's project 3.6.5. Picture.

Project 365 Day 32

It's been beautiful in Vancouver for the past couple of days; sunny, but really chilly.
So cold, that I noticed this pool of partially frozen water by the Art Gallery this morning as I walked by.
This is my Project 3.6.5. picture for the first day of February.

What January Taught Me

One month into 2011 and this is what I've learned so far:

1) I am not good at being sick
2) Taking a picture of something new and interesting every day is more challenging than you'd think.
3) My heart actually aches when I have to go for long periods of time without seeing my nephews
4) If I could, I would keep Christmas decorations up all year round
5) I hate cockroaches!
6) I'm really liking yoga... what it does for my mind and my body
7) I have a crush on Colin Firth
8) I'm going to miss Trevor now that he's moved away
9) Good rain boots are expensive, but necessary
10) Wine and Indian food go really well together

Let's see what February brings!
