Blogging is hard work. Well, not really, but it is quite time consuming. And while normally I wouldn’t have a problem with this, during this little event my town is hosting called the 2010 Winter Olympics, time is at a premium.
So once again the last 3 days are in the form of a summary.
Day 7 Thursday: Canada vs Switzerland Men’s Hockey
Started watching the game at the Alberta House. Although quite pretty to look at, the atmosphere was rather quiet and boring so we headed over to the Irish House where the crowd was quite a bit rowdier. Both places had really long lines and we were lucky enough to know people that got us in without having to wait to long. We ended up winning the game but just barely – 3-2 in a shootout. Winning goal by Sid the Kid Crosby!

We asked people to write words of Hope and Inspiration for Breast Cancer awareness and then tie their Hope Tags on to the railing. The result was a moving art installation that will be up for the next few days in Yaletown.

Cute scooter! My cousin, Chris arrived on Friday night so we had a family, (sister, brother-in-law, too) walk around downtown. We started at the Olympic Cauldron and then strolled up to Robson Street just as Jon Montgomery had won the Gold in Men’s Skeleton. To say that the crowd on the street was crazy, is a huge understatement. It was MENTAL. Huge Energy! A little scary too… There were a lot of people and a lot of alcohol had obviously been consumed… if one person had wanted to start something, I’m sure the crowd could have turned ugly. Thankfully, (and probably due to the presence of so many police officers), everyone seemed to be there for a good time. We ended the night in Yaletown at Earls for a couple of drinks where we caught a glimpse of the fireworks from the LiveCity site.

The Olympic Rings in Coal Harbour. They changed colour when we were there. This should have been the first sign that we had just won another medal

I wanted to check out the Swiss and Atlantic Houses. Unfortunately, they line-ups were longer than I’d anticipated, so I just walked around a bit and then waited in another line-up just to catch the aqua bus back to Yaletown.
